How Do You Use Google’s Search Operators?
How do you use search operators, i.e., query words that have special meaning? Do you use the number range search to find a date you cannot remember (e.g., [ Chester Arthur inaugurated 1800..1900 ]), or, use allintext: to find documents in which your search terms always appear in the text of the pages included in Google’s results?
Submit one or more of your effective, clever, and/or innovative queries together with a description of how each works. Visit the Google Guide Cheat Sheet to see our current examples of queries that use search operators.
Winning entries will be listed in our Cheat Sheet or the Google Guide online tutorial. The author of each winning query will receive a Google Guide coffee mug and an acknowledgment in Google Guide.
Google has many undocumented search operators! Feel free to send us search examples of any operators that are missing from our Google Guide Cheat Sheet .
